This online course offers cybersecurity tips for travelers working on the go
Are you a digital nomad, an on-the-go professional or someone who just can’t help checking those work emails while on vacation? This online course is for you.
This summer, LinkedIn Learning released “Cybersecurity Awareness: Mobile and Remote Work Security”. The course is taught by Caroline Wong, chief strategy officer at cybersecurity company Axari.
The course doesn’t require a technical background; anyone who is tech-savvy enough to connect to Wi-Fi to check their emails can benefit. It aims to provide “simple, practical actions” that you can take to secure devices and stay safe while on unfamiliar networks during your travels.
“Imagine you’re answering emails from a coffee shop, jumping onto Wi-Fi from the airport or finishing work from your phone at home,” said Wong in the course introduction. “It feels normal. But each of those moments can introduce real security risks.”
Throughout the course, Wong emphasizes the need to slow down and pay attention to the details. While you may be smart enough to notice the warning signs in a phishing email while in at work or in your home office, you may be far more distracted while checking your inbox from your phone while waiting to board your flight.
“Security doesn’t come from a single tool. It comes from combining protections and making better decisions about how you use them,” said Wong.
